On Monday, August 29, the UCHS boys and girls cross country team competed against 3 other schools at Riverbend Park. The UCHS barracudas grew legs and continued to beat out their opponents, with the boys cross country team finishing 1st and the girls cross country team finishing 2nd. The boys had a phenomenal race, with Conner Frizzell coming 2nd overall. The super-pack of Carter Morgan, Brad Cain, Jack Ryan Richardson, and Ben Fullwood secured the win on the boys side. With the 1-5 split time of 2:22, the boys team dominated over Hickory Christian Academy, Statesville Christian, and Davidson Day.
The lady barracudas also excelled in their race at Riverbend Park, coming second overall. Runners Alex Dominguez, Madison Sledge, and Katie Rappaport unveiled excellent speed with less than 2 seconds apart from each other. The ladies had a 1-5 split time of 8:10, a much quicker split time than Hickory Christian Academy. The ladies displayed outstanding running form and dominated their opponents in strategy and organization.
