Congratulations to sophomore Madison Sledge on breaking the UCHS 5k record last Saturday at the River Run meet in Dobson!
Hours of training and dedication paid off this past weekend as Madison battled through the difficult course and was able to finish third overall, finishing with a time of 21:28, breaking the girls record by over a minute!
Head coach Jim Frizzell had this to say regarding the achievement.
"After just the first few practices, I told her she was going to break the record her first meet. She's a humble and hard working young lady and seemed initially surprised by that. Along with her teammate Ellie Adams, I am sure we will break this new record a few more times this season!"
We are all super proud and excited for Madison and the rest of the Cross Country team as they head into their fall season.
